Your Garden: Journals and photos

The March meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12 at the Methodist Church. Chris Hunter Hall will present a program on Recording Y our Garden: Photos, Journals, and Recordkeeping. If you have ever kept a garden journal or photo album (or even have a sample of an unused journal),
please bring it to share. We will hopefully also have time to share our “most unusual garden tip or hint.” Chris is going to attempt to be the host for the month as well.
For our meeting on April 9, we will also be at the Methodist Church at 7:00. Jacqueline and Chris from Munnell Run Farm will return to present a new program: W onderful W orld of Wildflowers. They invite us to come learn how to identify the spectacular spring wildflowers that inhabit our area. Hosts are Edyie Swingle and Andie Brown.

DJ, spring plants and winter snow

Last night we had a informative discussion with DJ from DJ's Greenhouse. DJ talked about some of his favorite books and plants for spring gardens and year round color in your garden.
The spring garden walk will be April 14.
Ladies Night Out June 1 and June 16 Breakfast with DJ are popular monthly events that our members are encouraged to attend. Check his web page for details. www.djsgreenhouse.com

Garden Club Feb.13 meeting

Our first meeting of the year will be on Monday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. at the Mercer United Methodist Church. The guest speaker will be our friend Dennis James from DJ’s Greenhouse. He will speak about new annuals and perennials for 2012. He will also answer our general garden questions.

Hosts for the month will be Diana Jackal and Pat Whiting.

Candle light meeting in November

Our November meeting was one to remember. We had an excellent power point presentation about native herbs used by the local Native Americans. Just at the end of the program we could hear a storm outside then the lights went out.

From somewhere candles appeared and the meeting continued.

We will all remember our first candlelight meeting. Somehow it seemed appropriate since we were just talking about living in the old days and healing with herbs etc.

We approved a slate of officers for next year, decided not to meet in January, had our drawing for the wonderful gifts that were donated. Leslie suggested we bring to a wrapped white elephant for a gift exchange game to be played after the Christmas Dinner. So mark your calendars and look for a fun gift for the gift exchange game.

Mercer Garden Club Annual Christmas Dinner

The Mercer Garden Club will meet on Monday Dec.12 at 6pm at the United Methodist Church.

This is an hour earlier so mark your calendar.

We will celebrate the close of our Garden Club Year with our annual holiday dinner party.

Meat and beverages and dinnerware will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share, call Nancy or Pat to let them know what you plan to bring. Bring your spouse or a friend; all are welcome.

"Secrets of the Indian Medicine Man

The Mercer Garden Club will be meeting at the United Methodist Church on November 14 at 7:00pm. After a short business meeting we will have an interesting program presented by Christian Mosebach & Jacqueline McCullough from the Mercer County Conservation District. They will share information about native plants and healing titled "Secrets of the Indian Medicine Man" .

Our Hostess's this month are: Leslie Finkbeiner, Dorothy & Karen Maxwell

Bring item for our raffle. This will be the last raffle of the year so go through your stuff, garden books, house plants, garden tools and find something you can donate. This is a fun and painless way to support our club.

Sept.12 Masts Greenhouse

Vera Filer and Betty Graham are our hostess's this month. They are taking us to Mast's Greenhouse to see the large display of mums. Mums will be available to purchase ($5.00 - $35.00). We will have a wonderful selection of colors and sizes to choose from. They have 6,000 planted!

Meet at 6:15 at the church to car pool. We will have our meeting and refreshments at Mast’s Greenhouse.
