DJ, spring plants and winter snow

Last night we had a informative discussion with DJ from DJ's Greenhouse. DJ talked about some of his favorite books and plants for spring gardens and year round color in your garden.
The spring garden walk will be April 14.
Ladies Night Out June 1 and June 16 Breakfast with DJ are popular monthly events that our members are encouraged to attend. Check his web page for details. www.djsgreenhouse.com

Candle light meeting in November

Our November meeting was one to remember. We had an excellent power point presentation about native herbs used by the local Native Americans. Just at the end of the program we could hear a storm outside then the lights went out.

From somewhere candles appeared and the meeting continued.
We will all remember our first candlelight meeting. Somehow it seemed appropriate since we were just talking about living in the old days and healing with herbs etc.

We approved a slate of officers for next year, decided not to meet in January, had our drawing for the wonderful gifts that were donated. Leslie suggested we bring to a wrapped white elephant for a gift exchange game to be played after the Christmas Dinner. So mark your calendars and look for a fun gift for the gift exchange game.

Please if you read this pass this info on to Garden Club members that do not look at the internet.
I will mail a link to this post to all the folks on my list. Nancy G

July 11 6PM Meeting at Church plus Farm Tour

We will meet at the United Methodist Church at 6 PM for a short meeting, then carpool to tour a Garlic Farm.

Directions to Bill Faulk’s Farm will be given at the meeting. Bill grows garlic on a large scale, 12.000 plants this season. He also has a large garden and uses organic gardening methods. In past years he was into growing giant pumpkins. His farm has been owned by his family for 100 years. Bill loves to garden and try new ideas in growing flowers and veggies.

You may want to bring some bug off with you. This farm is out in the country. Please don’t let that keep you away, this is a garden you will enjoy seeing. Bill loves to talk about gardening so be ready with your gardening questions.
